Garry Antonio earned his Bachelor and Master Degrees in Guitar Performance at McGill University, where he worked with Alvaro Pierri, and his Doctorate in performance at l'Université de Montréal, where he studied with Peter McCutcheon and conductor Lorraine Vaillancourt.

A twentieth century music specialist, Mr Antonio promotes contemporary Canadian composers, many of whom have written especially for him. He has performed extensively in recital and chamber concerts as a member of the Canadian Guitar Quartet and in collaboration with pianist Mariko Sato, tenor Guillermo Silva-Marin and actress-singer Meg Sheppard, among others.

He has been a featured soloist on radio programs for Radio-Canada and the CBC, and has recorded on the XXI-21 label.

In addition to performing, Mr Antonio has conducted many workshops and master classes, acts as a promoter for other musicians, adjudicates at festivals and competitions, composes and arranges.

He is currently on staff at McGill University, the McGill Condervatory of Music, Concordia University and at the Cégep régional de Lanaudière à Joliette.
