About:
The concert, performed by Orchestre Symphonique de l'Isle (OSI), will kick off a fundraising campaign for a new grand piano at Oscar Peterson Concert Hall. The OSI performance, under the direction of Cristian Gort, will feature Concordia University Department of Music students and faculty members in a classical music program of works by Dvorak (Ouverture du Carnaval) Chopin (Piano concerto No.1, with Zuzana Simurdova, piano) and Saint-Saens (Carnaval des Animaux, featuring Liselyn Adams, piccolo; Hélène Gagné, cello; Eric Lagacé, double bass; Emily Shapiro, clarinet; Julien Compagne, xylophone/glockenspiel; Gregory Chaverdian, piano I; Louise Samson, piano II; Dr. David Graham, narrator).

The concert also marks the beginning of a mutually beneficial partnership between the OSI and the Department of Music, where students will have the opportunity to perform with the orchestra as well as have new contemporary compositions played by the musicians in sight-reading sessions.
