The Interactive Multimedia Playroom is a research tool and environment designed by Rosemary and Harry Mountain to help develop critical frameworks for sound and multimedia creation and analysis.  
 
This talk will give a brief overview of the Playroom, report on recent developments of the international, interlingual, intercultural network known as NESTAR, and speculate on why this research set-up works so well for a diversity of uses ranging from team-building 
to market analysis to translation studies.
