Specialization in Music Composition

Students gain competence in techniques of music composition, and musical language and ideas through discussion, listening, research, practical exercises, and composing of original works. There is a focus on contemporary music of all kinds. Student composers may have their works read or performed in workshop or concert settings. The department produces many concerts each year in various Montreal venues including Concordia's own Oscar Peterson Concert Hall on the Loyola campus.
