To all new and returning
music students,
The MUSAC committee welcomes you to Concordia's
Music Department for the school year of 2005-2006, and invites you
to actively participate throughout the year to the collective
development of a better student life. The Staff
of MUSAC is proud to put their skills to best represent
your opinions and needs for the coming year.
What's new? A Newsletter
like this one will frequently be published presenting the results of
MUSAC's recent discussions and actions. We feel it is your right
to know what is currently being done for you and, any
comments, propositions
or objections you wish to make will be taken seriously
by MUSAC. To this end, a suggestion box is at your disposition
in the student lounge. You may share your opinions with the
committee anonymously.
MUSAC is currently seeking opportunities
for music students to express their talents in and outside
their own campus.
Campus gigs could include (but not limited to) the Hive's, the G-lounge, the
student radio (and what not),
in forms of
fundraising concerts and/or jam sessions. Off-campus
discussions include (but not limited to) fundraising shows at
the Be-bop.
Performers interested in participating in these activities
may register a.s.a.p. with
MUSAC in RF-200.1 so that we may coordinate the unfolding of events
properly. You may register your bands at all times.
MUSAC wants to give students a better
place to live and work in. To that aim, renovations to the
students lounge is underway. We are looking for volunteers to help
paint the lounge somewhere in the month of December. Please contact
Jennie Larivière or anyone of us at MUSAC to offer your help.
Donation of any furniture in good condition is also welcomed. We can
only rely on voluntary efforts to bring those changes to the
student's lounge; any
participation or donation will be greatly appreciated.
Also, MUSAC wants to improve its services. It will
soon be possible to borrow
movies, music documentaries and others visual documents to be viewed in
the lounge. Audio equipment is being put in place. There are
plans for an "evening at the movies" to be organized.
Also, we
would kindly ask
for a collective effort in keeping the equipment IN the lounge. The lounge
is meant to benefit equally all of us. We sincerely
hope that our combined efforts will lead to a collective
pride in being part of Concordia's music community.
